FELLOWSHIP IN SOCIAL SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES
Applications are invited from suitable candidates for being considered for the award of SYLFF-JU Fellowship (Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund, endowment of Nippon Foundation). Fellowship is intended to financially assist young students of social science and humanities with leadership potential. Maximum of four fellowships - two for M.A., one for M. Phil and one for Ph D students will be awarded.
1. For each one year fellowship of US $ 1600 for M.A., applicants must be enrolled with the M.A. first year and one year fellowship of US $ 2440 for M.Phil, applicants must be enrolled with M. Phil first year in Jadavpur University under the Faculty of Arts/ Faculty Interdisciplinary studies, Law and Management.
2. For three year fellowship (all inclusive of US $ 6520+7040+7560) for Ph D degree, applicants must have completed a masters degree from any faculty or interdisciplinary school of any university and must be willing to take registration under the Faculty of Arts/Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Law and Management, Jadavpur university in subjects within the parameters of social science and humanities.
Fellowships will be paid monthly in Indian rupee value determined by the exchange rate prevailing as on date of payment.
Timeline: (Exact dates will be announced each year)
August (First week) - Distribution of application forms.
August (Last week) - Last date of distribution of application forms.
August (Last week) - Orientation workshop for writing a good research proposal under the SYLFF-JU programme will be held at 11 am on JU campus. (Open for all applicants)
November (Third week)- Last date for submission of applications.
February/March - Applicants to meet expert committee to defend proposals.
April - Final selection and formal procedure completed.
July/August - Start of the fellowship period
Application form will be available on payment of cash Rs. 200/- from the Information Office, Aurobindo Bhavan, Jadavpur University, Kolkata: 700032, India.
Completed application form must be sent to Prof Shibasis Chatterjee, SYLFF Project Director at one of the following locations:
1) Ground Floor (adjacent to Dean's office), UG Arts, Jadavpur University, Kolkata 700032.
2) 1st Floor, SYLFF Office, Biren Roy Research Laboratory (adjacent to JU Press), Jadavpur University, Kolkata- 700032.
